ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Abstract: »This thesis entitled Child Abuse in Colleen Hoover's novel Hopeless discusses about the protagonist named Sky or Hope who experiences child abuse. This research is aimed at finding the types of child abuse and the effects of child abuse that occur on Sky. Child abuse is the wrong treatment of physical and emotional children, neglect of education and health, and the occurrence of sexual violence in children. The data used to analyze child abuse comes from the quotations in the Hopeless novel. The researcher uses qualitative methods to collect the data. The topic is analyzed based on the theory of child abuse put forward by Siswanto (2007) and Shackelfords (2021). The result of this study shows that Sky experienced sexual abuse, and the abuser is her biological father. The effects experienced by Sky as a result of the sexual abuse are phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, and tendencies to be aggressive.« (Source: Thesis)
